Marinsel.
Kleinbasel, the smaller part of Basel just over the Rhine in the direction of Germany, is a place of a great cultural mixture.
A high density of immigrants, creative people and students call it their home and playground. For me this is the area of Basel where you find the “cool crowd” of the city.
My favourite cultural spaces like Parterre, Kaserne and Carambolage are situated here.
Those who have lived in Basel for a while remember the NT areal, a legendary meeting point for many young people in the city.
Now in summer the Kleinbasel bank of the Rhine is “the place to be” when the temperatures rise above 27°C and you want to cool down having a swim.
It is not suprising that many cool shops are situated in this part of the city.
Marinsel is one of them and also a favourite to many people between 20 and 35 who want to dress urban, comfortable but also give their outfits a personal touch.
The store is located close to the Rhine and if you cross Wettsteinbridge you will eventually pass it by.
In their sortiment you find Scandinavian, French, British designs as well as Swiss ones from Zurich and Basel (made just around the corner of the shop).
The price/quality relation is pretty good and if you are looking for some lesser known brands to move into your wardrobe this is the place to shop.
The shop owner is super nice and helpful, something I appreciate a lot and which doesn’t apply everywhere in Basel.
